ACDC’s Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program provides a humane solution to the feral cat population. The goal of the program is to significantly reduce the local feral and stray cat population and to have cats that are living outside treated humanely. Feral cats are a national problem; in our state and throughout the country a dedicated group of people are operating a humane and statistically effective method of population control called Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). In some areas in Delaware County the problem is worse as so many un-neutered cats are left behind by owners producing offspring that are born outside to fend for themselves.
TNR works. TNR stabilizes the population at manageable levels as the cats are no longer able to produce new litters. It also eliminates annoying behaviors associated with mating such as fighting, yowling and spraying, it reduces disease and malnutrition, it is more effective and less costly than repeated attempts at eradication and is humane to animals and it fosters compassion in neighborhoods.
ACDC in conjunction with The Spayed Club is supportive of and actively participating in local efforts to reduce feral cat population humanely through TNR. ACDC assists in performing humane trappings, by experienced volunteers, of feral and semi-feral cats in Delaware County which are then spayed or neutered and receive rabies and distemper shots by The Spayed Club and their staff. Kittens and cats that are tame enough to be adopted are placed in good homes. The rest of the cats are then returned to their familiar habitat to live out their lives with the regular support by caretakers who provide food, water and shelter.
If you know of a feral cat colony and would like more information, or if you would like to volunteer your time to help us, please email info@acdc.ws or call 610-876-1479 and leave a message in our general mailbox (option #7).
If you would like to support our TNR program, we accept donations which will be earmarked specifically for this program. Please click the"Donate" Button Below to make a secure donation via PayPal.
