Animal Coalition of Delaware County, Inc.

Mission Statement:

The Animal Coalition of Delaware County is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit, all-volunteer, charitable organization registered with the Pennsylvania Department of State that is dedicated to finding loving homes for adoptable, homeless pets. We are also focused on educating the public regarding the necessity of spaying and neutering pets and encouraging the humane treatment of companion animals throughout Delaware County and the Main Line and surrounding areas.

How We Do What We Do:

We're open 24/7! We are a virtual shelter. You can reach us any time, day or night, via the e-mail address on our web site or our phone # 610-876-1479. Our hardworking group is all-volunteer and all-foster, which means that the dogs, cats and rabbits in our care reside in the safe haven of a foster home until they are adopted, versus a cage like at a traditional shelter. We get to know our foster pets very well so that we can match potential adopters and pets during our screening and interviewing process prior to adoption. Being all-volunteer also means that we have very little overhead, so the donations we collect go directly towards providing veterinary care and adoption promotion for our pets.

We would like to gently remind everyone that all the members of Animal Coalition are unpaid volunteers….that do what we do for the love of animals. Everything we do for our fur-babies we do in our ”œfree time”, in addition to working, taking care of our families (human and furkids), housework, etc. That being said, we do our best to process everything-applications, phone calls, etc- in a timely manner. If you feel as though it is taking an exceptionally long time, we apologize. Please be patient with us. Thank you.

The Animal Coalition makes sure that each pet in our care has been examined by a veterinarian, received any necessary vaccinations or tests and is spayed or neutered (if old enough) prior to adoption.

We are not affiliated with any local, state or federal agency or any other SPCA or humane group. Our work is supported entirely by the generosity of the general public and the group members. Since we are now 501 (c) (3), donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We ask that you be patient with us in responding to your emails, calls and faxes. We are an all-volunteer group and do what we do because we love animals. We also have full time jobs and families and many of us have foster pets in addition to our own so we do our best to respond as quickly as possible.

Fostering: We believe we provide a unique experience. It begins with you submitting an application, then a phone interview, followed by a home visit. Once that's complete, if we're all in agreement that fostering is right for you, you will be assigned a pet to nurture, with the help of one of our fostering coordinators and our veterinary care coordinator will be available for questions you may have about your animal's health. We have professional trainers available to us for evaluation of dogs, in addition to several vets that work with us to provide veterinary care. Come join us...you'll find a great support network available to help you with your fostering experience! Fostering saves lives!
